Jimmy Charles Jones, the ultimate salesman with a great sense of humor said goodbye to his loving family and friends September 8, 2025. Jimmy died after a seven month illness. He passed with grace, dignity and a positive attitude. Jimmy was born July 10, 1940. He was a 1958 graduate of Brownwood High School. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, September 10, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. A Celebration of Life for Jimmy will be held at the First Methodist Church in Brownwood at 11:30am on Thursday, September 11. A private burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park preceding the service.
Jimmy who never met a stranger starting his selling career with the Brownwood Bulletin selling advertising in the Brownwood area and Port Lavaca setting record sales. After moving back to Brownwood, Wall Molding gave him the opportunity to sell picture frame molding in a multi-state territory. After marring Ann Long and having son, Marc, Jimmy went to work as a salesman for Lipton Tea, living in Lubbock then promoted to Albuquerque where son, Jason was born. He was then promoted back to Lubbock. After 10 years with Lipton Tea, he was given an opportunity to go into business in Dallas, manufacturing and selling pressure sensitive labels.
Jimmy, Ann, Marc and Jason moved to Plano for their next life adventure – an adventure it was!
Through years of hard work, he built Jones Custom Products into one of the largest label companies in the Dallas area. His success caught the eye of Lord Label Company in London, England who purchased Jones Custom Products. Jimmy was asked to continue managing the company until he decided to move back to his home town, Brownwood. Never a man to sit still long, Jimmy and David Bullion built storage units and bought an RV park which they eventually sold. It didn’t take Jimmy long to jump right back into building storage units which he then sold. His other business venture was buying homes that needed remodeling, refurbishing them to enhance the neighborhood then selling or renting them.
As a member of First Methodist Church of Brownwood, Jimmy served on several boards and at one time, President of the Johnson Sunday School Class. He was a 25 year member of Brownwood Kiwanis serving as past President and Lt Governor for the District. In recent years, Jimmy was the top ticket seller for the famous Kiwanis Pancake Supper. He enjoyed visiting with community business and raising money for kids. He served 11 years on the Brown County Water District Board and 15 non-consecutive years on the Brown County Appraisal Appeal Board. He loved serving his community.
Jimmy loved living at the lake and entertaining family and friends. He was mentor to many over the years.
Jimmy is survived by a loving family, his wife, Ann; son, Marc and wife, Stacy of Rockwall; niece, Lori Jones McGowen of Brownwood; great niece, Kristina McGowen of Brownwood; sister-in-law, Vickie Jones and Al Andress of Brownwood; Ellis Goins, his trusted handy man for 30 years; several cousins and longest living friend, Johnny Dodds.
Jimmy is proceeded in death by his son, Jason; his parents J.W. (Derail) & Laverne Jones; brother, Tommy Jones; sister, Sharron Brincefield; nephews Shannon Brincefield and Brent Jones.
