Nelda Faye Minica, age 90, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sept 6, 2025. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Heartland Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Blanket Cemetery.

She was born on March 21, 1935, in Brownwood, Texas, to Herman Edytas and Mamie Bell Hanks. Nelda attended Brownwood High School and later married the love of her life, AL Minica, on May 22, 1967.

Nelda worked alongside her siblings at H.E. Hanks Plumbing, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She cherished the time spent with her family and especially enjoyed Wednesday ladies’ nights with her sisters Betty and Frances, her sister-in-law Gail, and her dear friend and “sister at heart” Carleen.

Above all, Nelda’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will live on through the generations.

She is survived by her children: son Tom Hickey, daughter Sue Davis and husband Edwin, daughter-in-law Carla Hickey; and son Terry Minica and wife Shannon; sister-in-law Gail Hanks; and sister at heart Carleen Modawell. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband AL Minica, son Tim Hickey, daughter Sissy Pearson; her parents, Herman Edytas and Mamie Bell Hanks; her sister Betty Vedder and husband Jay; her sister Frances Montez and husband Tony; and her brother Wayne Hanks.

Nelda will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her kind heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
