Darrel Calvin Pope, age 75, of Menard, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2025, in San Angelo. Darrel was born on September 2, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas, to Abner Robert Pope and Naomi Maud (Stewart) Pope. He grew up in Menard and graduated from Menard High School in 1969. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 6 years in Germany during the Vietnam era. Darrel kinda stayed to himself over the years. He was a very talented musician. He enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He worked as an aviation mechanic for Mitsubishi for several years. He has lived in Menard for 35 years after living in San Angelo for many years.

Graveside services with Military Honors for Darrel Calvin Pope will be at 10:00am, Monday, September 8, 2025, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard. Friends may view and/or sign Darrel’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.

Darrel is survived by his brother Harold Pope and his wife Roxie of San Angelo, Texas; nephews Ray Pope and wife Sylvia of San Angleo, Texas and Robert Pope and wife Mindy of McCamey, Texas and nieces Rebecca Peterson and husband Paul of Kyle, Texas and Raylene Valdez and husband Mike of San Angelo, Texas and 8 great nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Damon Burrier. Memorial contributions in memory of Darrel Calvin Pope may be made to the American Legion in Menard.
