Howard Payne University will host Homeschool Day on Wednesday, September 10. This preview day is open to homeschool students and their families for an opportunity to visit campus and learn more about the HPU student experience.
“We have seen an increase in the interest among homeschoolers over the last few years,” said Megan Proctor, assistant director of admissions, who homeschooled her children and currently has two daughters attending HPU. “My family personally chose HPU because of the size of the school and the fact that the university has remained Christ-centered in all areas. HPU is also homeschool-friendly with the admission process. It has been encouraging to serve these families and help them find quality education with us.”
Check-in on September 10 will be held outside of Grace Chapel at 8:45 a.m. The schedule for the day will include a welcome session with the Admissions Team, an academic panel, an HPU chapel service, a campus tour and lunch in the dining hall.
After lunch, the preview students will be able to sit in on a class. During that time, parents will gather with Proctor for a workshop entitled, “College how-to’s from a homeschool mom turned University Admission Counselor.” Parents will learn about high school graduation requirements, scholarship ideas, when to start applying and other tips on how to prepare for college.
“During the workshop, I will share first-hand experiences as a homeschool mom about topics I wish I would have known as my children were looking at colleges,” said Proctor. “I hope this helps alleviate fears and provides practical steps for parents through the college search process.”
Prospective students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship on the Home School Day if they bring a friend and apply for enrollment in spring or fall 2026 while on campus. Registration for Home School Day can be found at www.hputx.edu/homeschoolday.
Additional Yellow Jacket Preview days will be held this fall on October 11 and November 24. Prospective students can schedule a campus visit anytime by contacting the Office of Admissions.
