Demayha Hooker ( 8 ) led Brownwood (9-6) with 13 kills and 4 blocks Tuesday as the Lady Lions won for the 6th time in the last 8 volleyball matches

LLANO – The Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball team experienced a roller coaster ride Tuesday, claiming the first two sets in convincing fashion before dropping the third and fourth, then requiring extra points in the tiebreaker before emerging victorious.

The Lady Lions fought off Llano, 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 19-25, 17-15 on the road for their sixth victory in their last eight matches.

Demayha Hooker ignited the Brownwood offensive attack with a season-high 13 kills along with 12 from Aniah Hines, 10 from Hannah Deen, four from Kaydence Chandler, three each from Jentry Coalson and Icess Hall, and one by Ashantia Green.

Hall finished with 44 assists of Brownwood’s 45 assists, while Lanie Johnson provided the other.

At the service line, Hines recorded five aces trailed by Chandler with four, Maddi Scott with a pair and Hall with one.

Defensively, Johnson registered a team-best 13 digs followed by Hall with 11, Addy Huerta with nine, Hines, Deen and Grace Sparks with seven apiece, Scott with four, Hooker and Chandler with three each, and Green, Coalson and Camryn Gipson with one apiece.

Hooker also logged four blocks for Brownwood, while Chandler contributed one as well.

The Lady Lions (9-6) have another busy weekend in store as they will compete in the Albany tournament, which is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday.
