Howard Payne University celebrated a record year in gifts to the university, with more than $12.39 million received from June 2024 to May 2025. This marks the highest fundraising year in university history.

Significant gifts were received for campus improvements, totaling $5.99 million that included projects like the Ben and Bertha Mieth Outdoor Pavilion and Woody and Miki Martin Sand Volleyball Courts. More than $800,000 was given for academic programming, which benefited the Center for Student Success and School of Nursing. A total of $549,000 was given to support Yellow Jacket athletics to enhance the student-athlete experience. Additionally, $4.2 million was provided by supporters for student scholarships, which makes a Christ-centered, quality education more affordable.

“We could not be more grateful to God for his blessing on the university through the generosity of alumni and friends,” said Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for advancement. “With these funds, HPU has enhanced the student experience as outlined in the strategic plan through improved academic support, increased scholarships, transformed spaces for learning and building relationships and strengthened connections with alumni and university partners.”

In the past five years, from 2020-2025, the university has received more than $36 million from supporters.

Through the gifts given to the university, more than $20 million has been invested in campus improvements like the Newbury Family Welcome Center, renovations in the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom, renovations in all three residence halls and multiple academic buildings, Mieth Outdoor Pavilion and Martin Sand Volleyball Courts and more. Additional funds have been used to provide more student scholarships and services to assist students.

“It has been a remarkable year in the life of HPU, and we know that the best days are ahead,” said Dr. Cory Hines, university president. “We praise God for his generosity through his people. God has given our team a great vision for what is to come for the university, and we pray that alumni and friends will continue to join with us.”
