Brown County Sheriff’s Office Report: Aug. 18

The following information was provided by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office:

  • On August 15, 2025, at approximately 18:18, Deputy Dean Anderson was advised of call concerning an abandoned vehicle at Oak Creek Drive, Bangs, TX 76873. A 2008 Silver Mazda 6 was located on the wrong side of the roadway on Oak Creek Drive facing oncoming traffic posing a traffic hazard. Brownwood Towing was contacted, and the vehicle was towed.
  • On August 15, 2025, at approximately 20:49, I, Deputy Dean Anderson, was dispatched to a call for service concerning an assault against a jailer at the Brown County Jail, W Commerce St, Brownwood, TX 76801. I spoke with Steven Hill, a jailer working for the Brown County Jail. Hill said at approximately 20:45, he and Officer Darby Adams were conducting cell cleanings in B-Wing, when they approached cell B-10. Officer Hill opened the cell door to B-10, offering inmate Jeffrey Wayne Allen the cleaning supplies to clean his cell. Allen then extended his right arm and using his right hand, struck Officer Hill on the throat and squeezed, causing Officer Hill to lose his breath. Information was gathered and report submitted.
  • On August 15, 2025, at approximately 23:14, Deputy Dean Anderson was advised of call concerning dogs dumped by a Black Challenger at Thrifty Park, County Road 105, Brownwood, TX 76801. Two dogs were located and taken to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Shelter.
  • On 08/16/2025, at 1342 hours, I, Deputy Michel Wilson, was dispatched to the Brownwood Market, formerly known as the Sportsman’s Center, located at Belle Plain St., for a possible subject driving while intoxicated. After investigation, Presley Nealy was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
  • On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 13:24 hours, Deputy TJ Harrell was dispatched to E Fitzgerald, Bangs, Texas, 76823 for a traffic accident. Upon arrival, a male individual was located in the driver’s seat. The driver was suspected of Driving While Intoxicated. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed, and the driver was placed into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
  • On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 14:16 hours, I, Brown County Deputy Sheriff TJ Harrell, was dispatched to County Road 175, Brown County, Texas 76825 for a report of illegal dumping. Information was gathered, and a report was generated.
  • On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 16:35 hours, I, Brown County Deputy Sheriff TJ Harrell, was dispatched to County Road 173, Brown County, Texas 76232, for a report of illegal dumping. Information was gathered, and a report was generated.
  • On August 17, 2025, at approximately 16:45, Deputy Dean Anderson was dispatched to a call concerning neighbor’s dogs in the caller’s yard on her back porch and chasing her cats at FM 3100, Blanket, TX 76432. I spoke with Jayne Lindsey, who said the neighbor’s two black dogs were on her property, chased her cats, and killed a kitten.
  • On Sunday, 8-17-2025, at about 18:16 hours, Sgt Byron Langley and Deputy Christopher Williamson (Witness) arrived at W US 67 in Brownwood, TX regarding a domestic disturbance. Sgt Langley spoke to the victim, who stated her husband, JIMMY FRANK PHILLIPS, assaulted her, causing her pain, after a verbal argument over his drinking. I spoke to JIMMY, who stated he “did not use a closed fist” and “there was a difference in a slap and a push.” JIMMY admitted he pushed Alice with his hand and was placed under arrest for Assault Causes Bodily Injury FV.
