Shirley Ann Agan age 75 entered eternal rest on August 16, 2025. The family will hold a memorial service to honor her life at 11am Saturday, August 23rd at Heartland Funeral Home with Bill Slaymaker officiating.
Shirley was born on February 2nd, 1950 to RZ and Mildred Minica. She attended Kermit High School where she met her best friend Dana Myers, they have been like sisters since that day. She then moved to Early, TX where she finished High School and met the love of her life, George Agan. They were married on April 11th, 1968 and together they had one son, Shane.
Her career as a hairdresser started at The Magic Mirror, The Snooty Fox and the Hair Barn before she and her longtime friend, Charisse Fitzgerald, opened The Headquarters on Coggin Ave. October 20th, 1981. Throughout her career, she made long-lasting friendships with clients and those that worked with her. She loved what she did and the people she was surrounded by. Despite a MS diagnosis at the age of 26 and physicians advise for her to limit herself, to take it easy and be sure to rest, that was not Shirley. She would work all day and then go home and remodel a home well into the night. One time, George came home from work and Shirley said, “Surprise!! We don’t live here anymore!” She had literally gone out, found a different place and had moved everything! That’s just who she was. She loved taking a home and transforming it into something beautiful. As if all that wasn’t enough, she also did photography on the side. She loved photographing weddings and family pictures for many years until her eyesight started fading. Shirley truly found beauty in everything and everyone!
Shirley is survived by her son, Shane Agan and wife Janet; granddaughter, Ashleigh Agan; grandson, Dylan Agan and wife Amanda; great granddaughters, Caeslyn, Ellawyn and Brenlyn; brothers, Glen Minica and wife Belinda, Larry Shields, Ricky Shields and wife Toni; nieces, Lisa Hood and Kristy Jones; nephew Greg Laird, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her God daughter, Krystal Dollery.
She was preceded in death by her dad Myrle Shields; mother Mildred Shields; father RZ Minica; and the love of her life, George Agan.
