
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a fatality crash took place at 1:56 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 on State Highway 36, 1.5 miles from Rising Star.
Earl Morgan Wright, 74, of Rising Star, perished in the two-vehicle accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Jesse Speer
Wright was the driver of a 2025 Chevrolet Trax crossover sport utility vehicle, which was stopped and yielding to traffic waiting to turn left onto County Road 377. A 2019 Kenworth T680 towing 2010 Utility Flatbed semi-trailer failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the Chevrolet Trax, according to the preliminary DPS report.
Stacey Marie Wright, 53, from Rising Star, was a passenger in the Chevrolet Trax and was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with non-incapacitating injuries and was in stable condition.
The driver and lone occupant of the Kenworth T680 was uninjured.
All persons involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.
