
ABILENE – The Brownwood Lady Lions split their final two matches at the Bev Ball Classic Saturday, knocking off Sweetwater before falling to Jim Ned.
In a straight-set victory over Sweewater, Aniah Hines led the charge eight nine kills followed by Icess Hall with five, Demayha Hooker with four, Hannah Deen with three, Kaydence Chanlder with two, and Ashantia Green with one.
Hall distributed 19 assists with Lanie Johnson and Deen adding one each.
Johnson served a team-best six aces along with one apiece by Deen, Hines and Green.
Defensive standouts were Johnson with eight digs trailed by Hall with five, Deen with three, Maddi Scott and Green with two each and Jentry Coalson, Bellah Stokes, Hooker and Hines with one apiece.
Chandler recorded three blocks while Hines and Hooker each finished with one.
In the straight-set loss to Jim Ned, Hines finished with six kills, Hooker and Deen each collected three apiece, and Chandler chipped in two.
Hall tallied 12 assists to along with one each from Scott and Hines.
Deen and Scott each served one ace.
On the defensive end, Scott’s six digs were a team-high trailed by five from Hines, four from Chandler, three each from Deen and Hall, two from Johnson, and one each by Camryn Gipson and Coalson.
Chandler logged the only block for Brownwood.
The Lady Lions (2-4) will play their first game in Brownwood at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they welcome the Lampasas Lady Badgers to the Brownwood Coliseum.
