
The TEA Accountability Ratings for the 2024-25 school year were released Friday, and of Brown County’s seven independent school districts, Zephyr was the only one whose rating improved from the previous year.
Zephyr was graded at an 81, up from a 67 in 2023-24.
The TEA Accountability Ratings measure how much students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. It also shows how well a school or district prepares their students for success after high school in college, the workforce, or the military.
Early ranked second in the county with a grade of 80 in 2024-25, but that was down from an 85 in 2023-24.
Next was Bangs with a 79, the identical rating the school district received for the 2023-24 school year.
Brownwood came in with a grade of 74, down from its 78 rating a year ago.
May logged a rating of 73, decreasing from an 81 in 2023-24.
Blanket had the same rating in 2024-25 as it did 2023-24 – a 63.
And Brookesmith registered a rating of 58 in 2024-25 after coming in with a 75 rating in 2023-24.
A total of 1,208 districts and 9,084 campuses were rated in 2025.
