Shelia Kaye Williams Johnson born October 3, 1939, to David Aylmer (D.A.) Williams & Macelle Jean Teer Williams passed away Friday August 1, 2025. Kaye was born at her Grandfather Teer’s home in Pope, MS. She spent her early years sharing many adventures at her grandfather Teer’s & Grandmother Williams farms with cousins Barbara & Carolyn. Occasionally bratty sister Pat was included.
In November 1949 Kaye’s family moved from Memphis, TN to El Paso, TX. She attended Hillside & Coldwell Elementary Schools and graduated from Austin High School in January 1957.Then she attended Texas Western College—now UTEP. While working for Western Electric she met James “Johnny” Johnson. He finally won her over and they married Friday November 13, 1959. They had two sons, James Andrew and Lance David.
As Jim now worked for El Paso Natural Gas, they lived at various sub stations—Gallup, NM, Montezuma, UT, Kirtland, NM. Finally, in Bloomfeild, NM where Jim continued working but also farmed. Kaye was a middle school math & English teacher in Bloomfield schools.
Kaye loved to travel. After they both retired, they got a travel trailer & went everywhere. Finally, in 1996 they bought a home in Santa Anna, TX. An older home they could fix up. (It was one of Dr. Sealy’s). They bought from Earlene Scott.
In September 1996 they brought Kaye’s mother down From Bloomfield to live with them and they still traveled when they could.
Eventually through you could find them at The Line Shack Café with their group of friends! Lois Ann, Nancy, Clint & Rita, and many other regulars.
Jim passed away in 2017, then COVID hit 2020. But fortunately for Kaye, her brother David & his wife Vickie came to live with her March 27,2020–Just as
COVID shut Everything down! They were such a blessing as she no longer got out very much and now could not get out. (STUPID COVID)
Kaye, preceded in death by her husband James Johnson, father D.A. Williams, and mother Macelle Williams, Brother-n-law George Bell, and Great Nephew Anthony Bowman
Survived by: James Andrew “Andy” & Pat Decatur, AL. Lance David & Shawna, Denver, CO. Sisters, Patricia (Pat) Morris & John, Santa Anna, TX. Jean Dayett (Dai) Long & Bill Dawson, TX.
