During Monday morning’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioners, no action was taken on the county-wide burn ban, which remains off.
Commissioners approved spending a portion of the “Opioid Funds,” not to exceed $2,500, to purchase and install a carport for the Veterans Administration van.
Scott Anderson, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Agent for Brown County presented his retirement letter to the County Commissioners. Anderson, who serves as an Agrilife Extension Agent for two other counties, told the Commissioners he would be willing to stay on in his role in Brown County part-time until a replacement is found. Commissioners will discuss the matter further at a future meeting.
Commissioners also approved Brett McKibben with the Brown County Appraisal District as the designated official to calculate the tax rate for the 2025-26 fiscal year. McKibben has served in the role for several years.
The Treasurer’s and Auditor’s Report for July 2025 was presented by David Becktold and approved by Commissioners.
