At a short meeting today of the Brownwood City Council, approval was given to a new proposed ad valorum tax rate.  The new rate of $0.6925 per $100 valuation will be used in the proposed City budget, which is not yet approved.  The new rate is a decrease of 0.19% from the current ad valorum tax rate of $0.6938 per $100 valuation.

The Council will hold public hearings on the proposed new city budget on Tuesday, August 19 at both 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Brownwood City Hall, located at 501 Center Ave.  Once the Council makes any changes to the proposed budget and approves it, the new budget will be effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.  The proposed budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year can be found on the City’s website: www.brownwoodtexas.gov
