Boyce Newton, Sr., 82, passed away on July 29, 2025. Family will host a visitation on Thursday, August 7th from 6 to 8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral Services will be 1 pm Friday, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Eastview Cemetery in Hamilton.

Boyce was born in Hamilton, Texas to Calno Newton and Tommie (Hairston) Newton. Boyce attended Idaho Falls High School. After graduation, Boyce attended Idaho State University. He decided to take a different route and joined the army. After discharging from the United States Army, he returned back to Idaho and worked at McCarty’s. Boyce married Paula Newton on June 3, 1973 in Elko, Nevada. In 1980, Boyce and his family moved to Brownwood, Texas. He then worked at Ron Jackson State School for over 20 years before retiring. Boyce and Paula celebrated 51 years of marriage before her passing last year. Boyce enjoyed keeping up with all his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Boyce enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball. Unfortunately, a few years ago Boyce lost his vision. He still took comfort in listening to the TV and radio. Boyce attended the Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Boyce’s faith remained strong no matter what life dealt him.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Richard Newton of Boise, Idaho, son Rodney Newton and wife Teresa of Brownwood, TX, daughter Madeline Hurt of Blackfoot, Idaho, son Clarence and wife Tina of Payne Springs, TX, daughter Lola Worm of Brownwood, TX, son Boyce Newton Jr of Brownwood, TX, daughter Claudine Balfour and husband Andrew of Brownwood, TX. Boyce also had 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Boyce was preceded in death by his wife Paula Jean Newton, parents, Calno and Tommie Newton; brothers, Carl Newton, Cloyce Newton and Daniel Newton; grandson Aiden Boyce Newton.

Family would like to extend a special thank you to Oakridge Manor staff for treating Boyce like family.
