Gerald Dayton Reynolds, 88, passed away on July 29, 2025, on his property in Comanche, TX.

Gerald was born in Munday, TX on May 24, 1937, to Ezell Taylor and Mary Belle (Yates) Reynolds.

He graduated from Munday in 1955 but not before meeting his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lou Patterson. They were married June 14, 1958, shortly after Nancy graduated high school.

His first jobs included working at a grocery store and movie theaters. After graduating, Gerald worked for Stickland Radio & TV installing and repairing TV antennas and towers.

In 1959, Gerald joined the Army Reserves attending basic training at Ft. Knox, KY and advanced training at Ft. Jackson, SC. In September of 1960, after returning from a weekend leave, Gerald was told he had missed an important message from Munday, TX. When he called home, he found out his first son, Gerald Rick Reynolds, had been born. In 1962, they welcomed their second son, Russell Curtis Reynolds.

Gerald worked for Lone Star Gas from 1962 – 1997. While at Lone Star Gas, Gerald was transferred many times, moving the family to Munday, Seymour, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Quanah, Georgetown, Bryan, and finally Athens.

After retiring from Lone Star Gas, Gerald and Nancy relocated one last time to Comanche, TX in 1998. They bought some land and a house just outside of town which Gerald remodeled to Nancy’s specifications.

Gerald served those round him. In Seymour he served on the school board. He was a volunteer firefighter in Seymour and Quanah. At church he helped wherever he could. And nobody could doubt his love for his family. Whether it was supporting his boys and later his grandchildren in whatever activity they were in, some building project that someone asked him to build or simply giving a big hug and an “I’m so proud of you,” his family always knew he loved them more than words could say.

Gerald is preceded in death by his father, Ezell Taylor Reynolds; mother, Mary Belle (Yates) Reynolds; and son, Dr. Russell Curtis Reynolds.

Gerald will be greatly missed by his remaining family; wife, Nancy Reynolds, son, Rick Reynolds and daughter-in-law Michelle Reynolds, daughter-in-law (widow of Russell), Sherry Reynolds, all of Comanche, TX; seven grandchildren, Brandon Reynolds (wife Megan), Lantana, TX; Katy Reynolds, Franklin, TN, Stormy Cooper (husband Clay), Dublin, TX; Sarah Ground, Stephenville, TX; Richard Reynolds, Rachael Reynolds, and Michaela Reynolds, all of Comanche, TX; seven great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held August 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Comanche, TX.
