COLEMAN – American history is bursting with incredible stories of heroes, from well-known figures like Thomas Jefferson, Bernardo de Gálvez, and George Washington, to the lesser-known but equally brave patriots who made enormous sacrifices for the cause of liberty. Some colonists even risked everything, including their relationships with friends and family, by supporting the British. Now, thanks to the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit, visitors can immerse themselves in the captivating narrative of the American Revolution using state-of-the-art technology, illustrations, and authentic artifacts.
Originating from its award-winning website, the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit is a partnership between the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust. Through display panels and interactive digital kiosks, the exhibit surfaces diverse viewpoints and experiences, delving into the literal and figurative journeys of Patriots, Loyalists, men, women, Black and Native populations, and international allies. It introduces audiences to the drummer boys, military mapmakers, and other ordinary individuals deeply affected by global events.
Recently, the Texas Society DAR purchased the exhibit and added two additional panels, each explaining the contribution of what is now Texas, to the Revolutionary War. The American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit will tour the state for the next three years and will make its stop in Coleman August 13 – Sept 3, 2025. The exhibit can be seen at the Coleman Public Library in the Tillman Community Room.
The Captain William Buckner Chapter, NSDAR, founded in 1917, has a record of long-standing service to the City of Coleman and Coleman County. The public may view the exhibit from 9:00am to 5pm Monday through Friday with extended hours on Thursdays until 8pm, and from 9am to noon on Saturdays. The exhibit will run Wed, Aug 13th through Wed, September 3rd and will be closed on Labor Day.
