Roger Earl Patterson, 79, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Roger was born and raised in Brownwood, Texas, where he graduated from Brownwood High School and spent the majority of his life. He proudly served in the United States Navy, stationed at Naval Station Philadelphia and aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42). Following his military service, he worked as a plumber for the Brownwood ISD maintenance department until his retirement.
A man of faith and service, Roger was a member of both The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood. He was well known in the community for his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering kindness. Roger never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. One of his most meaningful roles was as a volunteer driver for the Brown County Veterans Service Office, where he helped transport fellow veterans to their VA appointments in Temple for many years.
Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jeanne Patterson; daughter, Kimberly Ann Patterson; son, Damon Ray Patterson; parents, Edben O. Patterson and Hazel V. Patterson; and sister, Paula Pitts.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurel L. McGuire of McGregor, TX; son, Dannie W. Patterson of Tennessee Colony, TX; sister, Jan G. Hager of Early, TX; four granddaughters; one grandson; and 15 cherished great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood, Tx. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
Roger’s life was marked by love, service, and steadfast dedication to family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
