Dennis was born January 27, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas, to George and Edith Benson. He attended and graduated from Brownwood High School. He later went on to marry his childhood sweetheart, Julia Willena Benson, on August 15, 1964. He was very active in his church, Haven of Hope. After retiring from many many years of truck driving, he liked to spend his me volunteering. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Eastern Star, Lake Brownwood Lions Club, Brownwood Lions Club, and Bangs Lions Club. In his spare time, he liked to fish and play cards. When he retired from all his volunteering, he liked to get up and go to breakfast at the Red Wagon, where he would catch up on the gossip for the day with all his buddies.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, his parents, and his lifelong best friend Charles Spearman.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Tonya Benson (Saul), Tammy Telles (Gary), and son Tony Benson; his brother, Gary Benson (Brenda); and sister, Teresa Gowin (Johnny), all of Brownwood, Texas. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Brandon Keel, Jason Keel (Megan), Eric Ross, Anthony Ross (Sarah), Mia Williams (Randall), Colter Maddox, and Chastity Logan, as well as his great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Zoe Keel, Cynderin Ross, and Yvette Ross.
