Beginning Wednesday, July 30 (weather permitting) TxDOT’s contractor, Wagner & Co. will begin the districtwide application of seal coat to state roadways throughout the Brownwood District. The district includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties.

Sealcoat is a layer of liquid asphalt which is topped with small rocks. This is applied as preventative maintenance to seal cracks, increase traction and prolong the life of the roadway.

The project will begin in Stephens County, with the following locations:
• US 183: From the Throckmorton County Line to 1 mile north of Hubbard Creek
• US 180: From the Shackelford County Line to the west side of the US 180 bridge
• SL 252: From US 180 west of Caddo to US 180 east of Caddo
• US 180: From FM 287 to just east of SH 67
• FM 1032: From the west end of pavement to US 183
• FM 2408: From the Shackelford County Line to FM 1853

This is a fast-moving project that will work its way through the district. Updates and schedule of this project will be posted, as work progresses, to TxDOT Brownwood District’s social media platforms: Facebook (Texas Department of Transportation Brownwood), X (@TxDOTBWD), Nextdoor (Texas Department of Transportation), and Instagram (TxDOTBrownwood).
