The Brown County Sheriff’s Office shared the following press release Thursday morning:
On July 23, 2025, at approximately 10:33 a.m., the Brown County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Coleman County Sheriff’s Office about a theft involving a white Chevrolet truck pulling a travel trailer.
Deputies located the vehicle in Brown County at approximately 11:44 a.m. on Hwy 279 North of Lake Brownwood. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. An investigation led deputies to find the truck had been stolen from Jones County and the driver, Kristi Aleman, was arrested. A search of the vehicle produced a Taurus pistol that was later found to be stolen from Denver City, Texas.
Aleman told deputies that Scotty Dyer was driving the truck and fled from the scene. Dyer was not located, and Aleman was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
At approximately 5:08 p.m., a Kawasaki Mule UTV was reported stolen by employees of the Brownwood State Park. The subject who stole the UTV was identified as Scotty Dyer, who evaded from the earlier traffic stop on Hwy 279.
Multiple agencies, including the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens with Drone and Helicopter assets, State Park Police, and Lake Patrol, assisted in the search for Dyer at and around the Lake Brownwood State Park.
Dyer was not located, and the search was called off after several hours of searching
