Cody Louis Kille, 28, of Annville, Pennsylvania, on the evening of Wednesday, July 16, was booked into the Brown County Jail and has been charged with one count of smuggling a person under 18 years of age. Bond has been set at $250,000. The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at approximately 10 a.m. officers were dispatched to the Memorial Park in the 1600 block of Burnet Drive regarding a report of a runaway juvenile.  When officers arrived, they met with the juvenile’s parents who explained that their 15-year-old daughter had run away.

The parents explained that earlier in the morning, around 8:50 a.m., the 15-year-old juvenile wanted to remain at the park while the parents returned to a nearby trailer park.  At approximately 9:50 a.m. the father became worried and began tracking the juvenile’s phone, which was later found in a trash can at the park.

Two employees at the Veterans Service Center were interviewed and acknowledged having seen the juvenile.  She was observed sitting at various park benches until a white sedan drove up and motioned for her.  The workers observed the juvenile approach the vehicle and then willingly enter it and drive away.

Given the seriousness of this report, Brownwood Police Criminal Investigators were contacted to assist.

During the investigation, detectives were able to review the juvenile’s phone and a laptop she used in order to identify and gather digital evidence. IP addresses and social media apps were reviewed which ultimately led to exigent search warrants being approved for several social media platforms.

Through the combing of digital data, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 28-year-old Cody Louis Kille of Annville, Pennsylvania.  His vehicle was also identified and confirmed to be consistent with witness statements.  Detectives gathered data critical for issuance of an Amber alert which was later broadcast throughout Texas.

At approximately 3 p.m., officers with the Hooks Police Department and Texarkana Police Department located and stopped the suspect vehicle and positively identified Kille and the juvenile. Kille was arrested by the Hooks Police Department for charges in that jurisdiction and for our warrant out of 35th District Court for Smuggling of Persons with a bond set at $250,000.  The juvenile was returned to her family.

BrownwoodNews.com reported earlier, courtesy of the Texarkana Gazette, that Kille was arrested on a kidnapping charge after being found Wednesday, July 9 with a 15-year-old Brownwood girl whose disappearance triggered a child abduction alert. Kille at the time was charged with kidnapping, a Third Degree Felony, and unlawfully carrying a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond was set at $510,000.

Kille’s arrest was the result of an Amber Alert issued for Dahlia Creek of Brownwood. Hooks Police officer Zachary Baker spotted a vehicle matching the description in the alert traveling east on Interstate 30 near Texarkana about 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the 209 mile-marker, less than 20 miles from the state border.
