Summer art classes continue August 7-8, at the Brownwood Art Center with instructor June Musick, whose art work is also currently on display in the Plants, Animals, People exhibit at the Art Center.

The Stabilo Drawing Class, Thurs. Aug. 7, from 6-8 pm,  will provide an introduction to drawing applications with a Stabilo All # 8046 and other aquarellable pencils. If you are drawing with regular greyscale pencils you will enjoy the fast and smooth way to get your grayscale in using Stabillo.

June says that “Stabilo pencils are easy and incredibly versatile.  They can be used alone or with other media, depending on your desired look.”

The Painting With Gouache (go-wash) Class, Fri. Aug. 8, from 6-8 pm, will give an introduction to using this water-based paint, which has a higher pigment content than watercolor.  Gouache dries fast, can be re-wetted, and leaves a matte finish.

“We will have a pre selected set of small simple works that you will follow along step by step to learn the medium.  I will show you the techniques, and the care and use of the paints and papers so they will last ages.”

Tuition for each class is $75 for Brownwood Art Association members, and $85 for non-members. Pre-registration is required.

Pre-register and pay for the classes online or in person.  Online pre-registration is at  https://www.brownwoodart.org/new-page-4  In person pre-registration is at the Art Center, 215 Fisk, from 2-6 pm Mon-Fri.

The Plants, Animals, People exhibit continues through August 20.  Gallery hours are 2-6 pm, Mon.-Fri.  Gallery admission is always free.
