Vessie Pearl Croker, age 90, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Vessie was born in Stephens County on August 21, 1934 to Maudie Dell (Smith) Knight and Henry Clinton Knight. She married the love of her life, Jacky Dean Croker on January 25, 1955 in Comanche. Vessie worked for the State of Texas Foster Care System, and as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. Vessie enjoyed embroidery, sewing, crochet, and fishing. She loved gardening, cooking and baking, Bible study, and most of all, her kids and grandkids.
Vessie is survived by her children, Lafonda White, Nevona Mitchell and husband Rick, Parthenia Micheletti and husband John, Dean Croker and wife Debbie, Misty Croker, Cassie McKinney, Catrina Roberts and husband Marty; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings and in laws, Butch Knight and wife Glenda; Teresa Knight, Johnnie Knight, Mary Knight, Richard Knight Michael Knight and wife Carla, Peggy Moore and husband Tony, and Shirley Cottrell. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacky Croker; parents Rev. HC Knight and Maudie Knight; parents in love, Charlie and Neva Croker; grandson, Quinton Mitchell; brothers, Nolan Knight, Norman Knight, Ricky Knight, Clinton Knight, and Jerry Knight; sister in laws, Gwen Knight, Nancy Knight, Gladys Croker, and Leavern Croker; brother in laws, Kenneth Croker, Billy Croker, and Travis Cottrell.
