I was in a quandary earlier in the week. Actually it was my fault because I did a column on the Houston Astros last week. It was my fault because they had won what, 10 of 12 I think – something like that – but they were twenty games over five hundred. I thought when they lost, one, two, three straight and maybe a lot more than that maybe I shouldn’t pick because it will come back to bite me.
I had thought that would be a pretty good column, but I keep thinking about young kids screaming and having no chance against that river.
Then I thought maybe I would do one on that new kid for the Dallas Mavericks. I was pleasantly surprised as they played their first game against the Lakers. Now, this is kind of “rookie” time if you will. This isn’t LeBron James and the return of you know who, but it’s not an exhibition game but it’s close to it. They played the Lakers at Reunion Arena and that guy gets out and scores ten points. He plays pretty good on defense, but the problem is, it’s an exhibition game and the crowd was excited and everything, and yet I could still hear the kids, especially the young kids, crying going down that river.
The Astros, the Rangers, pro football and basketball teams gave many millions.
Then, I thought about the All Star Game coming up. I thought about a hundred different things and I kept going back to that river and I could almost hear those kids and I decided I couldn’t do a column.
No way.
Until next time, so long everybody.
