Joy Lynn Allen

Joy Lynn Allen, age 70, of Brady, Texas, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at her residence in Brady. Joy was born on October 19, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Luther (Ed) Allen and Mildred (Elkins) Allen. She grew up in Albuquerque and Grants, New Mexico. She graduated from Grants High School in 1972. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She lived most of her life in Grants where she taught school for over 20 years. She moved to Brady in September of 2023. She enjoyed old country music and was very active in the local Hillbilly Hits Fan Club. She regularly volunteered at the Country Music Museum and Hillbilly Hits Fan Club events. Joy frequently spent extended time at her cabin on Mount Taylor, NM during the summers. She enjoyed antiques, gardening, and traveling with friends and family.

Joy Allen’s wishes were for her remains to be cremated. Services will be held at the Elkins Family Cemetery in Prewitt, NM. Friends may view and/or sign Joy Lynn Allen’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com .

Joy Allen is survived by her son, Todd Burns and his wife Annalee of Brady, Texas; daughter Tory Everhart and husband Eric of Westcliffe, Colorado; brother Luther “Eddie” Allen of Bellingham, Washington; grandchildren Gage Burns, Kate Burns, Cole Burns, Stone Everhart and Sage Everhart; niece Maya Gallegos and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
