Evelyn Jeanette Brown went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 7, 2025, at the age of 82. A visitation for Evelyn will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Central Baptist Church in San Saba. A funeral service will follow the visitation and begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Red Watson. Interment will take place at Wallace Creek Cemetery.

Evelyn was born in Georgetown, Texas, on September 19, 1942, and lived a life defined by strength, selflessness, hard work, and unwavering love for God and family. She approached every challenge with class, grace and determination, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

During her senior year in high school, while working at Greenway Drive Inn in Georgetown, she met her soon-to-be husband, Joe Philip Brown. Evelyn and Joe were married on December 27, 1961, with love and companionship that lasted over six decades. Joe fondly remembers Evelyn as his “get my gloves” girl because anytime he needed help, Evelyn would respond with, “let me get my gloves,” always ready to lend a hand with unwavering dedication.  Evelyn was humble and quiet, but at the same time, fierce in defense of what she believed in.

Evelyn worked in Accounts Payable at the Round Rock School District and retired in June 2002 at the age of 60. She approached her work with dedication and commitment. Above and beyond career, Evelyn had a passion for taking care of her family, tending to her flowers, and keeping her home a warm and welcoming haven. She was the first one up, stayed busy all day, and was the last one in bed, always ensuring everyone else was cared for.

Evelyn was a true prayer warrior, keeping a long prayer list and faithfully kneeling in her closet each night, saying a prayer for each person. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort in times of difficulty. We will never forget her grace and unwavering faith in Jesus, even in the difficult days near the very end, often mixing prayer and conversation in the same sentence, ending most all sentences with “through Jesus Christ I pray” or “I love you”. She was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church, where she found love and acceptance.

Evelyn was welcomed into eternity in heaven by her daughter, Jeanie Leann Brown, who went before her on March 17, 2013. Also greeting Evelyn are her mother, Willie Alene Brown, father, Bob Brown, brother, David Brown, and sister-in-law, Alene Brown. They all have surely embraced her with open arms.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Joe Brown, and her three sons, Jody and wife Olga, Brent and wife Rhonda, and Brett; son-in-law DJ; sister-in-law Martha; six grandchildren, Danielle and husband Nathan, Alyssa, Emily, Rebecca and husband Kody, Logan, and Garrett; a niece, Jan; nephews James, Joe, Jon, Brad, and Steve; great-grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Amelia, Diesel, JJ, and Bonnie.

Though our hearts ache with the loss of our beautiful lady, we find comfort in the incredible life she lived and the love she gave us so freely. We will forever be honored to have had Evelyn Brown in our life and will especially miss spending time with her on the porch, around the dinner table and her warm hugs.
