The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its 2025-2026 Leadership Brownwood class.  Spanning eight months from September through April, participants meet monthly for sessions that include lunch, behind-the scenes tours, and meaningful interactions with local business leaders, industries, and organizations.  Through engaging discussions and firsthand experiences, participants gain valuable insight into Brownwood’s unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities.  The program encourages civic involvement by exploring key community issues and empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact. Limited to just 30 participants, enrollment is open to those affiliated with a current Chamber business member.  Graduates will be eligible to join the Leadership Brownwood Alumni Association, continuing their journey of service, connection, and leadership within the community.  Tuition is $595 per person.

MORE ABOUT LEADERSHIP BROWNWOOD

Leadership Brownwood began in the mid-80’s by the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce as a community leadership development program. The program is dedicated to educating, developing, and empowering current and future leaders for the community and motivating them to serve civic, charitable, and business organizations.

Leadership Brownwood is designed to promote and foster the development of community leaders by acquainting program participants with the area’s assets, needs, and opportunities. This program provides a forum to discuss community challenges with representatives from Brownwood. By providing an awareness of the continuous growth of the Brownwood community, Leadership Brownwood strives to stimulate leadership skills and motivate participants to choose an area of interest for active involvement upon graduation from the program. The ultimate goal of this program is to build community leaders for today and tomorrow.

The beginning retreat, the first Tuesday in September, focuses on individual leadership styles and techniques. Starting in October and ending in April, the class then spends one day per month examining specific aspects of the community such as education, government, local business and economic development, health and human services, the criminal justice system, and tourism. The insights participants gain as they explore the inner workings of the community serves as a foundation for their long-term involvement in Brown County in a variety of leadership roles
