The Brownwood Art Center is hosting a free public reception for the Plants, Animals, People exhibit, this Thursday July 3, from 5-7 pm at 215 Fisk in downtown.  The show includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.

The exhibit continues through August 20, and regular gallery hours are 2-6 pm, Mon.-Fri.  Gallery admission is always free.

Brownwood Art Association President Brad Bradley notes the universality of the theme of living things.  “People have been recording and portraying themselves and the life around them since ancient times, so we wanted to encourage artists to use their unique style to have fun with the possibilities of such a broad subject.”

Register Now for Summer Classes

Painting with Thread, an embroidery workshop with Julie Mize, will be July 8-9, from 9 am to 12 noon.  On day one, students will learn basic stitches.  Day 2 will include guided practice and completion of a student project.  Tuition for the two-day workshop is $80 for BAA members, and $95 for non-members.

Register and pay for all classes online at the BAA website, or in person at the Art Center, Mon-Fri, from 2-6 pm.  Cash, checks, or cards are all accepted.

Summer Art Camp with Joy Ferguson for students entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grades is July 22, 23, 24, from 1-3 pm.  Tuition is $45 for each 3-day session.

Classes coming in August:  Stabillo Drawing Class, and Painting with Gouache (“go-wash”), with June Musick.  Watch for an announcement with all the details coming soon.
