Peggy Ruth Spinks, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. A visitation for Peggy will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba and will be officiated by Pastor Alvino Valdez and Scott Meador. An interment will follow the funeral service and will take place at China Creek Cemetery.

Born on September 27, 1932, in San Saba County, Texas, Peggy was the third of five children born to Homer Newell Smith and Minnie Josephine Hibler Smith. She spent most of her life in San Saba, where she built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and a deep love for her family and community.

Peggy married the love of her life, Bobby Spinks, and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing. She began her professional life as a saleswoman at Harry’s Department Store, later serving as deputy and tax assessor/collector in the county office. She concluded her career at City National Bank, retiring as Vice President and Cashier.

A true daughter of the land, Peggy had a passion for farming and ranching and a remarkable gift for growing things – especially flowers. She was fiercely independent, maintaining her home and yard well into her late 80s. Her talents in the kitchen were well known, with her famous peach cobbler – often with double or triple crust – being a favorite among family and friends. An accomplished quilter, Peggy had a sharp eye for color and design and generously shared her beautiful creations with loved ones.

Above all, Peggy was a proud and loving mother, grandmother great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. Her presence brought warmth and comfort, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Spinks; her siblings, Reva Edgerton, Homer Smith Jr., Sammy Smith, and Janie Manning; and her parents.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and D’Ann Spinks, and Jerry and RoAnna Spinks; grandchildren and their spouses, Darrel and Bethany Spinks, Joni and Leslie Patterson, Casey and Marsha Spinks, and Kirby and Hannah Spinks; and nine beloved great-grandchildren: Tyler Patterson and fiancée Shayden Tinkler, Owen and Emma Spinks, Remington and Madeline Spinks and Saige, Bodie, Carter, and Ryder Spinks.

She is also survived by in-laws, Barbara Smith, Beverly and Joyce Spinks, and Charles and Carolyn Perry, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. The family extends special thanks to Marcie Butler for her compassionate care and support in Peggy’s final days.

Peggy’s life was a beautiful testament to love, resilience, and grace. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Pallbearers: Darrel Spinks, Leslie Patterson, Tyler Patterson, Casey Spinks, Kirby Spinks, and Owen Spinks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the China Creek Cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
