Bobbie Jo (Sims) Stewart of Cross Plains, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 29, 2025 in Brownwood after a short illness. Born to Jo (Kuykendall) Sims and Bob Sims on September 15, 1943 in Brownwood, she attended First Presbyterian Church, graduated from Brownwood High School and Howard Payne University. She was active in church and school activities. Her favorite pass times included studying her Bible, playing the piano, and sharing visiting times with friends and family.
Bobbie Jo taught piano lessons to many students of all ages and delighted in their accomplishments.
She worked in the HPU library until her retirement. Bobbie Jo was currently serving her Lord Jesus as pianist for Cross Plains First Methodist Church at the time of her passing. previously played the piano for several other churches
Bobbie Jo is survived by her daughter, Stephanie and husband, Mike Scevers, grandson, Robert Scevers, grand daughter, Katie Scevers, and great grandson, Landry Tacker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Stewart, her parents, and grandparents.
Interment will be June 20 at 1:00 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Early, TX. A memorial service will be held June 21 at 1:00 at First Methodist Church in Cross Plains, TX
The family requests that in lieu of flowers any memorial may be given to First Methodist Church in Cross Plains. Cremation services entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
