Elodia Prendez Castillo, age 80, of Brady, Texas, passed away Monday evening, June 9, 2025 in Brady. Elodia was born on March 10, 1945 in Ballinger, Texas to Fructoso “Fred” Prendez and Gregoria (Salazar) Prendez. She grew up in Ballinger. She married Mauricio Castillo on October 14, 1961in Ballinger, Texas. They made their home in Brady, where they raised their family. She was all about her family. She was the family caregiver and homemaker. She loved to cook and bake. She fed everyone. She adored her grandkids and to her they could do no wrong. She had an amazing faith and loved the LORD. She enjoyed watching soap operas during the day while ironing and doing her housework. She was a member of Gateway Church in Brady. She has lived in Brady most of her life.
Funeral services for Elodia Castillo will be held Friday morning at 10:00am, June 13, 2025 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Ruede Rule officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Friends may view Elodia’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign her online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com. Pallbearers will be Adrian Solis, Kaden Solis, Sean Castillo, Tyler Castillo, Dustin Castillo, and Jaxson Nuncio. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maurice Castillo, Daniel Castillo, Joe Castillo, Steven Castillo, William Nuncio, Bobby Castillo, and Jesse Bomer.
Elodia Castillo is survived by her loving husband Mauricio Castillo, Sr. of Brady, sons Maurice Castillo, Jr., Joe Oscar Castillo of Brady, Steven Castillo of Brady, daughter Jessica Zapata of Brady, Daughter-in-law Renee Castillo of Brady; brothers David Prendez and wife Estella of St. Paul, MN and Jose Castillo of Brady; 11grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel Castillo, son-in-law Alex Zapata, granddaughters Paige Nicole Castillo and Adriaunna Nicole Solis and two sisters.
