Hello from D.C.!
This summer, I have the wonderful opportunity of fulfilling a journalism internship in our nation’s capital. One week has already flown by, during which I have been running all around the city writing, researching, and meeting wonderful people.
That said, I couldn’t let this column awkwardly pause while I’m away so, I am excited to continue writing periodically about what is happening in D.C. as I get to experience it all first-hand. From sitting in on conferences with Speaker Johnson, state Representatives & Senators, to working on Capitol Hill and navigating the tunnels, I hope this will provide Brownwood readers (and those elsewhere) with first-hand insight… as first-hand as I am able to provide.
What will be different about this column’s content? Well… technically speaking nothing will be significantly different. For the summer, I will be writing primarily on national news and policy alerts, as well as experiences I’ve encountered working as a journalist and college student in Washington D.C.
My hope is that this extension of the column will be only more informative on national matters than it has been prior, while I was based in Brownwood. At the end of the day, my work is geared toward providing you with an informative overview of pressing legal, political and cultural issues; so you can cultivate opinions by your free will.
As always – the truth rests in the facts and thus will set you free.
