The Priddy ISD Board of Trustees announced via social media that David Coker is the lone finalist for Superintendent.

Coker has 36 years of experience in public education, including over a decade in leadership roles within schools. He has worked as a middle school principal in both rural and urban settings, most recently leading Millsap Middle School which was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Middle Schools in the nation. Prior to his administrative career, Coker taught science and coached football, track and field, and cross country.

A lifelong Texas educator and first-generation college graduate, Coker has dedicated his career to fostering strong school cultures, enhancing academic outcomes, and nurturing meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. His leadership philosophy emphasizes trust, collaboration, and ensuring that every student – especially the most vulnerable – receives the support they need to thrive.

Coker is a proud husband, father and grandfather. His wife of 38 years, Mary, is a lifelong educator who recently retired from her role as a high school counselor. They have two adult children – son Kyle, who works as a security guard at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, California; and daughter Kacie, who teaches kindergarten for the Springtown ISD. The Cokers are also blessed with six grandchildren. They reside in Comanche County, where they enjoy a family farm and actively participate in the community they now call home.

Pending final approval, Coker looks forward to working alongside the Board of Trustees, faculty, and families to lead Priddy ISD into a bright and united future.
