Revitalizing Our Community and the Juneteenth Committee are gearing up for the 2025 Juneteenth Community Celebration sponsored by Hendrick Medical of Brownwood. The celebration is scheduled for June 19th-22nd. Juneteenth is a federal holiday marking the day June 19th 1865, when the union soldiers landed in Galveston Bay, to inform all slaves that President Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation, ending slavery which freed all slaves.
The theme for this year’s celebration is Unity and Strength: We Are One. The celebration kicks off on Thursday June 19th with a Soul Food Luncheon, sponsored by Aldersgate Enrichment Center at the Brownwood Event Center. Ticket for the event are $10; they can be purchased through Venmo @ROCBWD. Friday evening starts with a classic car parade through downtown Brownwood starting at 7pm. The parade route for the Juneteenth Parade is pictured below. Vehicles will stage in the Depot Parking lot. Come out to Adams Street, Turn right on Fisk Ave, travel down to Baker, turn right and end at the Baker Street Lawn. Many of the cars will be parked on Lee Street next to the vendors for the community to get a closer look. Following the parade at the Baker Street Lawn is the White Linen Party sponsored by Waldrop Construction.
After the parade, the community is invited to continue the celebration at the White Linen Party, sponsored by Waldrop Construction. Everyone is encourage to wear your best white summer outfit, the event will be held on the Baker Street lawn, there will be food and drink vendors, a live DJ, Photo booths and lawn games.
Saturday morning the committee has planned a 5k Fun Run, sponsored by the City of Early/MDD at the Early Town Center, cost is $15 and registration can be completed at https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/Early/ROCJuneteenthUnityFunRun
At 11:30 the gentlemen of Stack N Styles will have their 7th annual Stack N Styles event, cost is $10 at the door, dress to impress and enjoy bottomless mimosas, food, and a live DJ. This event is held at the Brownwood Event Center.
Saturday at 5pm, come out and enjoy the Fun in the Park, located at Cecil Holman Park. Enjoy Free carnival rides, bounce houses, water slides, food/drink vendors, merchant vendors and more. When the sun goes down at 9pm, there will be a free concert in the park.
To wrap up the weekend events, come and enjoy a great worship service at A Breath of Praise Community Church located at 711 Bailey Street, Brownwood, Tx at 10am.
