The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of May 29:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 78 degrees; 0.56 feet above pool. Black bass to 7.47 pounds are good in 8-18 feet of water on wacky rigged Hag’s Jigs or Tornados, topwaters and spinnerbaits. Bass have finished guarding fry and have moved into an early summer pattern. Crappie are excellent with catches up to 15 inches on minnows and jigs in 18-25 feet of water. White bass are good to 2.5 pounds on crankbaits out of the lights at night. Catfish are slow on cut shad, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.
LAKE BRADY
FAIR. Water stained; 75 degrees; 15.07 feet below pool. The lake is very low and ramps are closed. There is a temporary use ramp available. It is possible to catch crappie and bass from the crappie house and from the bank.
LAKE CISCO
GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 13.17 feet below pool. Crappie are good on minnows. Overall water conditions are good and the wind has been mild. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
FAIR. Water stained; 75 degrees; 0.10 feet below pool. Black bass to 3 pounds are excellent in 1-10 feet of water throughout the lake in the grass and bushes with a white and chartreuse spinnerbait. A few fish are on the docks with a dropshot or Neko rig, Hag’s Tornados in Morning Dawn, Tsunami Jigs and spinnerbaits. Most bass in the 1.5-3 pound range are guarding fry. Crappie are slow to 10 inches on jigs in 8-15 feet in the stumps and under docks. Hybrid bass are Excellent to 10 pounds on squarebill crankbaits on lighted docks and chasing the shad spawn on the dam early and late. Catfish are slow on prepared bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
FAIR. Water slightly stained; 75 degrees; 22.87 feet below pool. Black bass are fair on long tapering points 8-18 feet of water with red bug or plum Texas rigged 10 inch worms. Rage tail cutter worms and hags F 6.5 worms work best. Some topwater action early before the sun is up in the same areas. Spooks and poppers seem to work best. White bass are fair schooling midlake and some reports around the damn area trolling for white bass with crankbaits. Crappie fishing is improving on big timber suspended midlake around the old Leaday or Cemetery area. Reports of crappie on minnows working best. Catfish still good on a variety of Bates. Most are staying shallow in 10 feet or less on chicken liver, cut shad and cheese bait. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.
LAKE PROCTOR
FAIR. Water stained; 76 degrees; 1.22 feet above pool. The water is above full pool and fishing has slowed some for anglers. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water. Crappie are transitioning to brush piles.
