The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m. Brownwood Police officers met with a female victim at the law enforcement center who desired to report an assault that occurred earlier in the evening at a south Brownwood apartment complex.
The adult female explained that earlier in the day she purchased items for a male friend with the expectation of being reimbursed. An argument began when he refused to pay for the items. The argument grew out of control and both parties separated.
Later in the day, the male suspect, later identified as 43-year-old McAndrew Terrell Norman, spoke with the victim and asked for her to return to his apartment on Brady Avenue so they could end the conflict.
At approximately 10:30pm, they met up in the complex parking lot and Norman immediately began arguing with the victim and accusing her of vandalism. Norman then ran up to the victim and began punching her about the face and neck and threw her up against a brick-retaining wall. The assault continued until the female was able to free herself. As she turned to run, Norman grabbed a rock and attempted to assault her with it before she was able to run away.
While committing this assault, Norman was also accused of grabbing the victim’s purse and keeping it from her.
Detectives were assigned to the case and began their investigation. Given the totality of the information and evidence gathered at the scene, investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Norman for Robbery.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., May 21, 2025, detectives arrested Norman at his apartment without incident. Norman was transported to the Brown County Jail where he was held on a $50,000 bond.
