Fishing Reports 5/21/25

The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of May 21:

LAKE BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 78 degrees; 0.35 feet above pool. Black bass to 4.47 pounds are good in 3-15 feet of water on wacky rigged Hag’s Tornados, topwaters and spinnerbaits. Some bass are guarding fry and the rest are in an early summer pattern. Crappie are slow to 13 inches on jigs in 12-25 feet. White bass are good to 2 pounds on crankbaits out of the lights at night. Catfish are slow on cut shad, night crawlers and chicken livers. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.

LAKE CISCO

GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 13.17 feet below pool. Perch, channel catfish and bass are good in 8-30 feet of water with minnows and shrimp. Triple digit weather is in the forecast so expect the water to warm up and the bite to improve. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.

LAKE COLEMAN

FAIR. Water stained; 75 degrees; 0.12 feet above pool. Black bass to 3 pounds are excellent in 1-10 feet of water throughout the lake in the grass and bushes with a white and chartreuse spinnerbait. A few fish are on the docks with a dropshot or Neko rig, Hag’s Tornados in Morning Dawn, Tsunami Jigs and spinnerbaits. Most bass in the 1.5-3 pound range are guarding fry. Crappie are slow to 10 inches on jigs in 8-15 feet in the stumps and under docks. Hybrid bass are Excellent to 10 pounds on squarebill crankbaits on lighted docks and chasing the shad spawn on the dam early and late. Catfish are slow on prepared bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.

LAKE O.H. IVIE

FAIR. Water slightly stained; 73 degrees; 22.78 feet below pool. Largemouth bass good to 12 pounds scoping 8-18 feet of water. Large tapering points and Ledges closer to deep water seem best with shad imitation style baits. Some topwater action is starting to happen on Zara spooks, Whopper ploppers and frogs in 2-6 feet early in the morning and late in the day. Best colors are anything with a white or silver belly. Target 6-20 feet of water with larger Texas rigged worms. Red bug Plum Apple and green pumpkin are the best colors. Crappie are slow with very few reports. White bass are fair schooling midlake and the turkey Bend area. Small top Waters and rattle traps work best. Catfish still good up river on a variety of stink baits and cheese bait. LAKE PROCTOR

FAIR. Water stained; 76 degrees; 0.56 feet above pool. The water is above full pool and fishing has slowed some for anglers. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water. Crappie are transitioning to brush piles. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.
