Hendrick Health is pleased to welcome Lisa Herota as Hendrick Health vice president of compliance, which includes the roles of corporate compliance officer and privacy officer.

Herota has more than 20 years of experience working in healthcare to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, standards and regulations. She comes to Abilene after serving in various leadership roles for eight years at Vail Health Services (VHS) in Vail, Colorado, most recently as senior director for compliance and privacy and as interim vice president for revenue cycle. VHS includes an acute care hospital, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a seasonal freestanding emergency department, eight multi-specialty physician clinic locations, three outpatient behavioral therapy clinics and four joint venture ambulatory surgery centers.

“With her extensive experience in compliance, privacy and revenue cycle management, I am very excited to have Lisa join our leadership team,” said Brad Holland, president and CEO of Hendrick Health. “She has shown a caliber of expertise focused on proactive initiatives that are suited for enhancing our culture of compliance.”

Prior to her time in Colorado, Herota demonstrated leadership skills from 2008 to 2017 at Universal Health Services facilities in Nevada, including four years as system health information management director and privacy officer for three hospitals. Her healthcare career began in 2002 as a manager and privacy officer for a chiropractic practice in Yuba City, California.

Herota earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in healthcare management with a focus in informatics and data analytics from Colorado Technical University. She holds professional certifications in healthcare compliance, HIPAA privacy and security, internal auditing, HIM administration and professional coding.
