Danny Ray Burnett

Danny Ray Burnett, 71, of May, TX, passed from this life on May 11, 2025 in De Leon, TX.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Heartland Funeral Cremation Services of Comanche.  The family will remember his life in a graveside service with military honors at 1 pm on May 26, 2025, in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Desdemona, TX.

Danny was born February 26, 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Robert Roy “Bob” Burnett and Dessie Mae Dossey-Watts.  Danny graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, TX in 1972 and later graduated from Texas State Technical College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science.  Danny worked for many years at Thomas R. Havins Unit in Brownwood, TX, retiring in 2023.  After retiring, Danny went to work at Walmart in Brownwood, TX. Danny served in the United States Army between the years of 1973 and 1977.  While in active duty, Danny was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  He attended various churches throughout his life and loved the Lord with all his heart.  He shared the love of Jesus wherever he went and to whoever he came in contact with.  Danny enjoyed hunting and fishing every chance he could get.  He volunteered for various organizations when asked. Danny loved every moment he got to spend with his loving family and his faithful companion “Chewy”.

Danny is survived by his only daughter, Laura Beth Burnett-Garza (Gerald), his grandchildren Alex Garza, Damian Garza, Denise Garza, Darien Garza, and Evelyn Garza. His sisters and brothers, Billie Bovenzi (Don), Joe Burnett (Paula), Terry Burnett, Debbie Smith (Bill), Robyn McWherter (Ryan) and Amy Urrabazo (David).  Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.R. and Retta Dossey, his parents Robert Roy “Bob” Burnett, Dessie Mae and Floyd “Brick” Watts and brother Robert “Bobby” Burnett, Jr.
