Ten members of the Brownwood Lady Lions softball team, which advanced to the Class 4A Division I Region I semifinals, earned all-district accolades from the coaches of 6-4A.

Superlative honors went to senior center fielder Jeniffer Romero, who was tabbed Offensive MVP; senior catcher Chloe Walls for the fourth time in her career named the district’s Catcher of the Year; and sophomore pitcher Kaydence Allen was the Co-Newcomer of the Year.

Landing on the first team for the Lady Lions were junior third baseman Carlee Burks, senior first baseman Peyton Pena and senior right fielder Jakayla Peek.

Second team choices were sophomore second baseman Lila Mares, sophomore shortstop Hanah Campos and senior pitcher Tynlea Wilson.

Receiving honorable was sophomore left fielder Maitlyn Esquivel.

Academic all-district selections for Brownwood included Campos, Romero, Walls, Esquivel, Pena, Wilson, Burks, Allen, Kaydence Chandler, Anslee Moses and JoLea Chambers.

The Lady Lions, under the direction of head coach Cherita Munguia, posted a 19-13 overall record and 5-5 district mark, finishing second in the 6-4A standings and matching their deepest postseason run since the 2016 state tournament appearance.
