ABILENE – For the second day in a row, the May Tigers fell victim to a shutout loss as their baseball season ended in the Class 1A Region I Area playoffs at the hands of the Ira Bulldogs, 6-0, Saturday.
On the the heels of Friday’s 7-0 in Game 1 loss at Abilene Christian High School, the Tigers (13-2-1) were limited to three hits Saturday – one each by Hunter Seider, Lane Goodson and Maddix Raffel – by Bulldog pitchers Zaden Pena and Brandt Cox.
Ira (23-1), meanwhile, scored single runs in the second and sixth innings and two apiece in the third and fourth.
Pena recorded three hits and drove in one, while Cox tallied a pair of hits and two RBIs to spark the Ira offense.
Kobey Morris went the distance on the mound for May and yielded five earned runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in six innings. The Tiger defense committed one error behind him.
