Fishing Reports 5/7/25

The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of May 7:

LAKE BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 74 degrees; 0.46 feet above pool. Black bass to 7.76 lbs are Slow in 3-15 feet of water with fish moving off shore on a drop shot Hag’s Tornados in green pumpkin, outlier frog and Spinner baits. Some bass are guarding Fry and most are post spawn and a few are into an early summer pattern. Crappie are slow to 12 inches on jigs in 2-10 feet. White bass are excellent to 2 pounds on crankbaits out of the lights at night. Catfish are slow on prepared bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.

LAKE CISCO

GOOD. Water stained; 72 degrees; 12.95 feet below pool. Bass topwater action is good. Channel catfish are good on most catfish baits. Crappie are good on minnows. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.

LAKE COLEMAN

FAIR. Water stained; 72 degrees; 0.32 feet above pool. Black bass to 3 pounds are excellent in 1-10 feet of water throughout the lake in the grass and bushes with a white and chartreuse spinnerbait. A few fish are on the docks with a dropshot or Neko rig, Hag’s Tornados in Morning Dawn, Tsunami Jigs and spinnerbaits. Most bass in the 1.5-3 pound range are guarding fry. Crappie are slow to 10 inches on jigs in 8-15 feet in the stumps and under docks. Hybrid bass are Excellent to 10 pounds on squarebill crankbaits on lighted docks and chasing the shad spawn on the dam early and late. Catfish are slow on prepared bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.

LAKE O.H. IVIE

FAIR. Water slightly stained; 71 degrees; 22.85 feet below pool. Bass are fair to 12 pounds on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits midlake. Shad spawn is still going on, so there is some early morning shallow topwater action until about 9:30 a.m. Crappie are slow. White bass are good with some schooling activity starting to happen on main lake points. Use rattle traps and small shad patterned swimbaits. Catfish are good shallow around the lake 5-8 feet with shrimp and a variety of stink baits and chicken liver. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.

LAKE PROCTOR

FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 1.56 feet below pool. The lake is up after the recent rains. Reports of hybrid catches with topwater lures. Crappie can be caught in shallow water on jigs and minnows. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water.
