The Brownwood Lions football program is sending another member to the collegiate ranks, as Robert Trowbridge on Wednesday signed to continue his athletic and academic career at Schreiner University.

A 2024 first-team all-district 4-4A Division I selection, Trowbridge recorded 93 tackles with 2 behind the line of scrimmage as a senior. His junior campaign featured 72 tackles, 5 for loss and 1 sack.

“I’m getting to live my dream,” Trowbridge said of continuing his football career at the college level. “I’ve always thought about this since I was a little kid, what if I could play college football? I’m finally getting to live it and it’s something I never thought was going to happen.”

Regarding why he chose Schreiner, Trowbridge said, “Honestly it felt like another home. I walked in and it felt amazing. I didn’t even think about going to Schreiner until they hit me up.”

Trowbridge stated the opportunity to play college football changed his initial plans of attending TSTC after high school graduation.

As for his time as a Brownwood Lion, Trowbridge said, “It meant everything to me. We went through struggles together as brothers with our coaches. It was hard at times, but I never wanted it to come to an end.”

Looking ahead to what he expects at Schreiner, Trowbridge said, “The first two weeks there’s no contact with anyone. For those two weeks we’re talking, working, practicing and lifting a lot. I got my lifting schedule for the next month and it’s a lot, but I’ll get through it.”

In the classroom, Trowbridge intends to pursue sports management.

“I want to hopefully become a coach and an athletic director,” Trowbridge said. “I hope to come back to Brownwood some day and see if I can get a coaching job.”

The Lions finished the 2024 football season with a 6-5 overall record and a third consecutive bi-district championship.
