
LEANDER – Due to unplayable conditions after heavy rains throughout the day Tuesday, the two-day, 36-hole Class 1A boys golf state tournament was called after one round Monday at Crystal Falls Golf Course.
The May Tigers finished in fourth place as a team and Zephyr’s Tripp Ballard came in as the seventh place individual.
The Tigers fired a 362 team score Monday, which trailed only state champion Wildorado (337), silver medalist D’Hanis (347), and bronze medalist Abbott (352).
Meanwhile, Ballard posted an 81 Monday, which left him five shots out of medal position behind Bo Bradley of Texline and Hunter Corman of Wildorado (74) and third-place Will Thomason (76).
For May, Kobey Morris carded an 86 trailed by JD White with a 90, Mikey Scheriger with a 92, Hunter Seider with a 94, and Riley Ball with a 102.
Also, Sidney’s Grant Torres recorded a 92 as well.
