Brownwood ISD Athletic Director Mitch Moore announced Monday that a State Championship Celebration and Pep Rally for the Lady Lions Track and Field team will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Warren Gym on the Brownwood High School campus.

All those interested in attending are invited.

The Lady Lions captured the UIL Class 4A Track and Field State Championship this past Thursday, May 1 at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium in Austin, garnering 64 points to the 45 of state runner-up Canyon.

The team state championship is the first for a Brownwood girls program in school history, and the first for any Brownwood High School team since boys golf claimed the second of two consecutive state titles in 1986.

At the state track meet, the 4×100 relay of Icess Hall, Jade Morin, Kaya Phillips, and Aniah Hines won a gold medal in a time of 47.0; Kaya Phillips won gold in the 200 meters clocked at 23.75; the 4×200 relay of Kaya Phillips, Jade Morin, Aniah Hines, and Kate Tindol were silver medalists in a time of 1:3.9.14; and the 4×400 relay of Jade Morin, Kate Tindol, Rebekkah Delgado, and Braycee Lee also earned silver medals after finishing in 3:50.93.

All four medal winners for the Lady Lions at the state meet set new school records in the process.

Also at the state meet, Hannah Deen placed 5th in the high jump with a best effort of 5-4, Kate Tindol was 8th in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 46.07, and Kaya Phillips placed 8th in long jump with a top leap of 17-4.

The Lady Lions won every meet in 2025 in which the complete team was on hand.
