Juan Gamez Olvera

Juan Gamez Olvera, age 72, of Brownwood, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 in Temple. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6 from 6 to 8 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM at Heartland Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 AM at St Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood.

Juan was born to Esteban Gamez and Maria Concepcion Olvera on January 27, 1953 in Tres Marias, Guanajuato, Mexico. He married the love of his life, Maria Remedios Bucio in D.F. Mexico. Together, they moved to Texas and Juan was a Master Mason in construction for many years. Juan and Maria were also members of Saint Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood. He enjoyed buying and selling odds and ends and spending time with family. Juan was always pulling pranks on his family.

Juan is survived by his wife, Maria Remedios Gamez; children, Cony Gamez, Antonio Concepcion, Erendira Bucio, Carlos Gamez, Ma Concepcion Gamez, Guillermo Gamez, Yunuen Gamez, Guadalupe Vasquez, Juan de Dios Gamez, Lucio Gamez, and Jazmin Gamez; brothers and sisters, Delfino, Alfredo, Eusebio, Micaela, Reyna, Sofia, Margarita, Paulino, Odilon, and Gracia; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Juan Gamez Jr.
