
The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of April 30:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
- GOOD. Water slightly stained; 73 degrees; 0.49 feet above pool. Black bass to 8.01 pounds are slow in 5-15 feet of water all around the lake. With fish moving offshore cast Hag’s Tornados in green pumpkin, Tsunami Jigs and spinnerbaits. The last spawning wave is about done. Some bass are guarding fry and most are post spawn. Crappie are slow to 12 inches on jigs in 2-10 feet of water with a few spawning on the gravel flats. White bass are excellent to 2 pounds on crankbaits around the lake chasing the shad spawn and out of the lights at night. Catfish are slow on prepared bait, nightcrawlers and chicken livers.
LAKE CISCO
- GOOD. Water slight stain; 70 degrees; 12.97 feet below pool. Catfish, crappie and largemouth bass have been biting in 10-20 feet of water on the south and west sides of the lake. Catfish are best on minnows, worms, and cut bait. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
- FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.67 feet above pool. Water levels are up so expect a slow bite until the water settles. Bass are in all stages of the spawn hitting creature baits and soft plastics. Crappie can be caught with minnows or jigs.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
- FAIR. Water slightly stained; 68 degrees; 22.82 feet below pool. Lake came up a few inches this week. Water temp 68 to 70°. Black Bass good, up to 12 lb. A lot of fish chasing spawning Shad in shallow water in a variety of places around the lake. Hags hurricane-bladed jig and Shad colors with a rage tail Menace trailer in matching colors works best. Spinnerbaits and top waters are also doing well around the salt cedar bushes and 6 ft or less. Some bass still spawning on deeper flats and points 6 to 15 ft. A lot of dead water out there so when you are trying to cover water and get a bite work the area very well for other fish. Don’t get locked into one spot unless you’re getting bites. Crappie has been slow a few reports up River shallow on minnows. White bass schooling Midlake around Lee day area and North Island. Rattle traps spinnerbaits doing best. Catfish good all over the lake. Rod and reel in 5 ft or less with shrimp earthworms and chicken liver. Blue cat and yellow cat doing well on jug lines with cut shad and a variety of cheese baits. LAKE PROCTOR
- FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 2.27 feet below pool. The lake is up after the recent rains. Reports of hybrid catches with topwater lures. Crappie can be caught in shallow water on jigs and minnows. Reports of white bass caught trolling in shallow water.
