
The Richland Springs Coyotes and Lady Coyotes are sending a combined seven entrants to the UIL Class A Track and Field State Championships at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on Saturday, May 3.
Representing Richland Springs at state will be Brice Roesler, who competes in the boys discus at 11 a.m. and the boys shot put at 2 p.m.; the Coyotes 4×200 relay of Ethan Deeds, Cohen Ethridge, Billy Perry and Rush Norris at 6:40 p.m.; Emma Bryant in the girls 400 meters at 7 p.m.; Ethridge and Deeds in the boys 300-meter hurdles at 7:35 p.m.; and the Coyotes 4×400 relay of Ethridge, Jim Eckermann, Deeds and Norris at 8:45 p.m. Relay alternates include Gage Behrens and EJ Aviles.
The Coyotes won the Region IV-A track and field championship in Seguin over Easter weekend.
Roesler owns the second-best state qualifying distance in both the discus (162-5) and shot put (48-11), and Ethridge possesses the second-best state qualifying time in the 300-meter hurdles (41.21).
