Melia Kay Edmondson, born on April 9, 1999 in San Angelo, Texas to Scott and Monica Edmondson began her great adventure with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2025. She died peacefully surrounded by her father, mother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her beloved Nanny, Gloria Ann Weatherman, and her cousin Rebecca Lynn Weatherman.
Melia was gentle of spirit, determined, kind, imaginative, graceful, musical, compassionate, and tenacious, a lover of her family, and most importantly a believer and follower of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Melia walked her life’s journey with her faith and her actions co-mingling. She had a strong faith and it showed. The glory of God is man fully alive, and that is how she lived the twenty-six years that God graciously gave her.
Melia grew up on a ranch where she and her sister, Laurel, had hundreds of acres as their backyard playground. She learned how to work hard and would often laugh with her daddy concerning the “monetary unfairness” since she and Laurel did not get paid like the high school boys he would hire to build fence and work cattle. She excelled in piano, drawing, academics, ballet, and cross country running. Her favorite times were spent at the beach, hiking in Colorado, running, doing anything with her daddy, mama, and sister, and swimming in any body of water.
Melia graduated in 2016 from Blanket High School as Valedictorian. She went on to earn her BSN-RN degree from Texas Tech University, and she was a travel nurse for two years before deciding to earn her Physical Therapy Assistant degree with an emphasis on aquatic therapy. This decision led Melia to Naples, Florida where she was blessed to earn a living working in a profession that was her passion. During her three years in Naples she developed a plethora of deep friendships with people in her community, with her clients, and with her coworkers.
Those who knew Melia will remember her for her “old soul” personality, her infectious smile, laughter, and spreading love and kindness. She had a rare gift of making people feel like they mattered because she knew that they did.
A celebration of her life will take place April 25th at 6:30 pm in Naples, Florida on the beach at Lowdermilk Park’s South Gazebo. A second memorial service will be held at the Early Event Center, 419 Garmon, Early, Texas on Saturday May 31st at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers please make any donations in memory of Melia to:
Samaritan’s Purse PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607 or
YMCA of Collier County 5450 YMCA Road Naples, Florida 34109
